Show Last Rites Performed For Henry Houchen. Cedar City Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed in the Third ward chapel on Wednesday afternoon for Henry S. Houchen, 81, long time resident resi-dent of Cedar City, who died Sunday Sun-day of causes incident to age. Mr. Hquchen was born in Sheffield, Shef-field, England on Jan. 26, 1872, a son of Henry and Harriet Smith Houchen. He was married to Clara Perry of Cedar City in Parowan Par-owan in 1903. He is survived by his widow three sons, Clyde and Perry Houchen, Hou-chen, Cedar City; Grant Houchen, Salome, Nev., and two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bauer, Cedar City, and Mrs. Mirla Newlin, Sun Valley, Val-ley, Idaho. Also surviving is one brother, Edward Parry of Cedar City. The funeral services were conducted con-ducted by Bishop Austin Heywood, Hey-wood, with Samuel F. Leigh, Bishop Heywood and Charles R. Hunter as speakers. A history of the life of Mr. Houchen was given giv-en by Herbert P. Haight. Prayer at the mortuary before the services was by Bishop A. E. Whatcott. Invocation was by William Wil-liam R. Palmer, benediction by John A. Booth and the dedicatory dedica-tory prayer by LaVand Bauer. The music program included three numbers by the old Fourth Ward choir, the group singing, "Jesul, Lover of My Soul", "Come Unto Me", and "Though Deepening Deepen-ing Trials", with Mrs. Elaine Nelson Nel-son and Herschel M. Neeley singing sing-ing the duet, and a vocal solo, "Oh My Father", by Mrs. Hazel Granger. Mrs. Reed Roberts provided pro-vided the organ music and was also accompanist for the other musical numbers. Burial was made in the Cedar City cemetery. |
