Show Cedar City Merchants Offer Values During Sweepstakes Day Bargains galore will be offered by the merchants mer-chants of Cedar City on Sweepstakes Day. July 3, but of even greater importance will be the opportunity to gdt acquainted with merchandise mer-chandise available here, the prizes to be' given giv-en away, and wholesome recreation for children chil-dren who visit Cedar City with their parents. The purpose of Sweepstakes Days, staged periodically by the Merchants committee of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, is to acquaint the people of southern Utah with the wide range of merchandise and services available in Cedar City. The committee feels that if people are aware of what they can buy in southern Utah it will mean that residents of the area will keep their money in southrn Utah where it can help develop and improve this section of the state, instead of sending it away to distant places for merchandise and thus send the money out of the area forever. In promoting the Sweepstakes events the chamber of commerce committee urges the residents of other towns in this area to buy at home wherever the merchandise needed is available. But when those items are not available avail-able at home the sponsors urge the residents to come to Cedar City where practically everything needed in the home, on the farm or ranch, can be found. And where prices compare favorable with prices in any of the far distant shopping areas. To make the out-of-town shopper's trip to Cedar City more pleasant, the committee has arranged wholesome and well supervisd recreation rec-reation activities for the children. They invite the people from the neighboring towns to brina the children with them Thursdav. Take them to the city park in the center of town, where mothers and recreation supervisors will be on hand to provide entertainment for the youngsters while the parents and older members of the family visit the stores and shops of the city. There will be story telling, supervised games, free swimming, little leaguer baseball games, to keep the children entertained and happy throughout the afternoon. The children will enjoy the visit to the park as a real vacation vaca-tion trip, and the parents will be able to shop leisurely, visit all the places of business and learn of the advantages of shopping in Cedar City.
