Show t County Asks Bids For Construction Of New Rest Home The Board of Iron County Commissioners Com-missioners this week issued a call for bids for the construction of a County Rest Home with bids to be opened at 3 p. m. on Friday, July 25 at the courtroom of the county courthouse in Parowan. Par-owan. The notice also calls for bids for furnishing the kitchen equipment for said home which is to be built in Parowan. Plans and specifications for the Rest Home have been prepared by L. Robert Gardner, architect of Cedar City in cooperation with the Iron county welfare department depart-ment headed by Commissioner Jess W. Guymon. The plans and specifications are available to prospective bidders at Mr. Gardner's Gard-ner's office and the bid call is for general construction, plumb ing, heating, ventilating, cooling, cool-ing, electrical work, sanitary facilities, fa-cilities, grading and paving. The home will be constructed on the ground belonging to the present rest home and that purchased pur-chased recently from Charles F. Bentley on First South street. It will contain 16 private rooms each with bath, and all facing the south; a modern kitchen, a workshop, an all-purpose room for dining, parties, etc.; a library and visiting room, all of which will be on the ground floor. The dining room will be in the form of an enclosed patio for light and sunshine, and the 16 rooms can provide for 28 persons if need arises. A modern apartment apart-ment for the rest home manager and his family will be provided on the second floor Construction will be of masonry mason-ry walls with concrete roof, absolutely ab-solutely fireproof, and construction construc-tion plans will provide for an additional wing to the home in the future, if the need arises. The estimated cost of the home Is set at $150,000 with construction construc-tion to take a period of approximately ap-proximately 10 months. Bids for painting and furnishing furnish-ing the home will be called for later after construction work is well under way Mr. Gardner says. I |
