Show Lady Lions Miniature Parade to Be Feature of July Fourth Celebration "King of the Cowboys and Queen of the Rodeo" will be the theme of the royalty float of the miniature parade to be staged Friday forenoon as a feature of the Independence Day celebration celebra-tion in Cedar City, according to Mrs. Bert Givan, in charge of the theme float. The parade, an annual event sponsored by the Cedar City Lady Lions club will start promptly at ,9 o'clock, July 4, according to Mrs. M. A. Cowley, chairman of I the parade committee. The parade pa-rade entrants will assemble on First South street, and will march down Main street to the city park, Mrs. Cowley states. There Vill be five divisions in the parade this year, with prizes offered for the best float In each section. In addition a grand prize for the best float in the entire parade will be awarded. The five divisions have been listed as patriotic, pa-triotic, nursery rhyme, original, tricycles or tther vehicles, and Primary groups. Leading the parade floats will be the King and Queen and their two attendants riding on a beautiful beau-tiful float in the Lions colors, purple and gold on a white base. The King, Tommy Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Robert Gardner, Gard-ner, and the Queen,, Sharon Woolsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Woolsey, will xbe garbed in cowboy outfits of white, trimmed In purple, and will wear royalty crowns. They will be astride white horses with I purple tails and manes. Their! attendants, Scottie Boyter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Boyter, and Susan Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hamilton, will be similarly attired except that they will wear cowboy hats instead in-stead of crowns. They will be seated in front of a golden fence, holding the reigns of the mounts of their King and Queen. The Junior high school band will lead the parade, and the members will be given a melon treat at the end of the march. Each participant will receive a prize of some kind regardless of division honors. The smaller children will each receive candy, while the older ones will have a choice of a free show ticket or a free swim ticket, Mrs. Cowley states. |
