Show Parowan Loses Hard Fought Game To Hurricane in Region Six Play-off After winning from the Dixie high school basketball team the first night of the Region Six round robin tourney last week end at Hurricane, the Parowan high team went down to defeat on Saturday night before the hot shooting Hurricane team to lose its chance to gain a berth in the State tournament in progress at this time in Salt Lake City. The Rams won from Dixie 37 to 32 and lost to Hurricane 56 to 45. The Tigers had won from Millard on Friday night, 65 to 43 to get Into the championship round with Parowan. Coach Twist Jones' Rams were not too impressive in their game with the Flyers with the close and technical officiating of Murray Mur-ray Maughan and Duffin Pugh keeping the players upset. The Flyers scored first and held a slight lead during the first Quarter Quar-ter which ended 6-5 in the Flyer's Fly-er's favor. The Rams found themselves them-selves In the second period and drove into a 17-14 lead at half-time. half-time. They maintained this margin mar-gin during the third period, with play close at all time. The score was 21-19 when the final period opened. In this period the Rams drew away slightly to win 37 to 32. Winters led the Parowan scorers with 21 points while the scoring for Dixie was divided with only Atkin being able to reach 8 points. In the Parowan Hurricane game the Tigers opened the scoring scor-ing with a field goal and a foul shot, but the Rams came back to tie the score and forge ahead 12 to 7 as the first quarter end-' ed. As the second period opened the Rams seemed to "run out of gas" and the Tigers poured 23 points through the hoop to 8 for Parowan to end the period ahead 30 to 20. In the third period the Tigers stretched their lead still farther with the Rams missing the hoop with many easy shots that just wouldn't go in. At one time Parowan was behind 19 points and the third period ended end-ed with the Tigers out in front 45 to 29. In the final period the Rams fought back but the lead was too great to overcome although al-though they scored 16 points to the Tigers 11 in this quarter. The scoring trio of Hirschi, Madsen and Rozelle was just too much for Parowan to stop. These men counted 20, 18 and 13 respectively. re-spectively. For Parowan J. Benson was high with 18 points before he fouled out In the 4th quarter. Winter got 12 and Harris got 7 besides playing a fine defensive game. Other players also turned in very good games. Dixie won third place in the round robin by taking the measure mea-sure of Millard 42-37 in a game ! that was close throughout. The Eagles were playing without the service of Wade and Anderson, both first string men. Wade hurt his foot In the Friday game and Anderson came down with the Mumps just before the Eagle-Flyer Eagle-Flyer contest.
