Show BERYL HEWS NOTES On March 7, the Extension Service Ser-vice and Escalante Valley Women's Wo-men's club brought to our valley Dr. C. J. Skidmore, assistant professor pro-fessor of sociology, and Dr. De Hart, sociology department, U. S. A. C. for an afternoon of worthwhile worth-while discussion on "Relationships "Relation-ships in a Democratic Family Who's Boss." In the evening a discussion was held and led by Dr. Therel R. Black, instructor in sociology, and Prof. Don C. Carter, assistant assist-ant professor of sociology and assistant director, division of social so-cial wark at the state college. Chairman for afternoon and evening sessions were Miss Fern Johnson and Stephen Brower. We are sure those who attended received re-ceived a lot of helpful advice. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gardner just returned from a few days trip to Imperial Valley in California. Cali-fornia. -Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Beacham and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Peder-son Peder-son attended the Utah Poultry banquet Saturday night, March 8 at El Escalante hotel in Cedar Ce-dar City The stork visited Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus Armstead on March 5. It was a girl. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Goddard had as weekend guests their son Gerald and family. Their home is at Long Beach, Calif. Gerald is a former student of the Branch Agricultural college. George Clove is on a trip to Salt Lake City. Tom Holland and son made a trip to Boulder City last week end. Mr. Holland's mother was ill. Win. Thompson and Alfred Pederson spent four very worthwhile worth-while days attending the sheep shearing school at B A C. Jack Moyle and Mr. Dunn are in California on business. The 4-H club is holding classes in junior first aid. Their teacher teach-er for the subject is Otto Fife. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Schmidt left for the state of Washington, and plan to make their home in Alaska. Mr. Schmidt was former foreman for the Bekins Bar-V ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Tal Tucker are very happy over the return of their son Harold from Korea. He has been serving In the Navy and on a hospital ship for the past two years. He has not seen his folks for 10 years. He brought his wife and five children home with him. They have just left for a new assignment at Nashville, Nash-ville, tenn. Alex Wood and Alfred Pederson attended the monthly meeting of the Iron County commissioners at Parowan on March 10 to discuss dis-cuss with them the road situation situa-tion in this area. |
