Show Meeting to Consider Women Voters Organization A last minute reminder to the women of Cedar City and surrounding sur-rounding territory, Inviting them Ro attend the League of Women Voters "get-acquainted" meeting at 4 p. m. Friday, March 14 in Hotel El Escalante was issued today by Miss Irene C. Sweeney, organization secretary for the league. A similar meeting was held here ,on Monday, March 3, but due to the conflict with the Cedar City-Hurricane basketball play-off game, it was decided to hold another meeting this week. At the meeting Friday afternoon, March 14, Miss Sweeney will speak and explain the history, purpose and policies of the league, a non-partisan organization organiza-tion interested in getting more citizens to take an active part In government. This "get-acquainted" meeting will provide an opportunity for questions from the floor and for full discussion of the advisability of having a local league in Cedar City. Should interest in orgaiza-tion orgaiza-tion be expressed here, Miss Sweeney explained that steps toward to-ward starting a league could be taken in the near future. Miss Sweeney emphasized again that attendance at this meeting will entail no obligation, obliga-tion, but will be an opportunity opportuni-ty for local residents to become acquainted with the work of this non-partisan organization, started start-ed by Carrie Chapman Catt In 1920 when women received the right to vote. |
