Show Gov. declares Snowmobile Week SALT LAKE CITY Gov. Norman H. Bangerter has declared Feb. 24-March 2 Utah Snowmobile Week. "The purpose of Snowmobile Week is to make people aware that there is another winter sport in Utah, other than downhill skiing, that generates tourism, money and winter activity in the state," said Craig Cazier, president of the Utah Snowmobile Association (USA). The "Vernal to Ruby Snowmobile Mission '91" ride for news media and the Utah Snowmobile Association State trail ride, Snowball and dinner, make up the week's events. The "Vernal to Ruby Snowmobile Mission '91" ride will begin Feb. 25, on the Red Cloud loop north of Vernal. For five days news media and members of USA will ride snowmobiles through some of the state's best snowmobiling areas. The ride will end at Ruby's Inn, near Bryce Canyon National Park, on March 1. "The media ride is an opportunity to showcase snowmobiling in Utah, and the interconnecting snowmobile trail system located throughout the state," Cazier explained. The public will have a chance to become involved in Utah Snowmobile Week on March 2, as members of USA's ten snowmobile clubs wiap up the week by hosting the group's annual state trail ride, Snowball and dinner. The trail ride will begin at 10 a.m. and will originate at Ruby's Inn. The Snowball and dinner will be held at Ruby's Inn that evening. The social hour begins at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and a dance will be held from 9-12 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $25 per couple. |
