Show Barton nominated to Ail-American team KAYSVTLLE Davis High boys' basketball standout Bret Barton was nominated last week to the 1991 McDonald's Ail-American High School Basket- ball Team. Barton joins seven other Utah hoopsters on the list of 1,500 prep basketball stars nationwide. Barton has led the Darts' scoring efforts throughout most of the season, averaging just under 20 points per game. The 6-1 senior guard logged 20 point in the Darts 3-point 3-point win over Cyprus Friday in the first round of the state 4A basketball tournament to lead all scorers. "I wasn't contacted," Barton explained. I read that I had been nominated in the newspaper, so I'm not really real-ly sure what will happen. 'Coming into the season, I wanted to do well, but I didn't expect anything like this. I was really surprised." surpris-ed." Joining Barton are Tramyne Wison of 3A state champion Ogden High and Cam Quayle of third place Ben Lomond High School. The players were nominated by a national selection committee of sportswriters and coaches. The final rosters will be announced tomorrow, followed by the 14th annual McDonald's All -American Basketball Game which is slated for April 6 at the Civic Center in Springfield, Mass. Traditionally, the McDonald's game has featured some of the most talented young hoopsters in the country, coun-try, many of whom have gone on to lead the college and professional rosters. |
