Show Go lean when eating red meat Recent studies linking red meat to colon cancer might have you stewing over that next cheeseburger. So if you're going to eat red meat, you might as well choose the leanest cuts of beef, lamb and pork: Pork tenderloin, round steak, ham, veal cutlets, beef flank steak, lean leg of lamb, lean round steak, beef bottom roast and roast beef. Fattier cuts of meat include beef briskets, frankfurters, pork chops and pork loin roast. The American Dietetic Association Associa-tion also suggests these other lean foods: Cod, flounder, ocean perch, canned tuna in water, skinless chicken breast and turkey, duck without skin and chicken leg. |
