Show xPots and Paints7 offered BOUNTIFUL The BountifulDavis Art Center presents "Pots and Paint,' an exhibit of ceramics by Craig Haaser and watercolor paintings by Mac Stevenson, through March 8. Both artists are teachers at Ben Lomond High School in Ogden. Haaser began exhibiting his pottery in 1980. He has taken part in many group exhibits throughout Utah and has won eight awards for his ceramic creations. He encourages his students to be creative on a daily basis by promising to create one pot each day, and if he misses, he must do five pots to make up for it The result of his constant creativity is a wide variety of ceramic containers con-tainers and sculptures. A number of pieces he has made are in private and permanent collections throughout the state. After obtaining a bachelor of science degree in art at Weber State University, he received a master of art degree in ceramic art from Utah State University. During the last year he was an adjunct professor at Weber State University. Stevenson received a bachelor of science degree from Weber State University Uni-versity and did some post-graduate work at Utah State University. He received a master of fine arts degree from Brigham Young University. Stevenson has been teaching and exhibiting his work since 1970. His art has been featured in many one-person shows throughout Utah, and he has won a variety of awards for several art mediums including watercolor, oil painting, drawing and sculpture. His quest in life is to successfully weave together the tasks of being a father, a teacher and a practicing artist. Being creative has helped achieve the goal through applying the rules and freedoms of art to teaching and family as well as creating. He says, "That 'Eureka! sensation one feels when as artist stands back from a signed work and expresses 'I did that!' is also felt when his child succeeds and when one of his students excels. The joy of being a father, a teacher and an artist smacks of a familiar spirit that becomes one's purpose in life. Gallery hours at the BountifulDavis Art Center, 2175 S.
