Show Timber layoffs begin KANAB Letters notifying 73 Kaibab Forest Products employees they will be laid off between now and June were mailed last week as part of company cutback plans because of a tie-up of timber supplies. "A significant decrease in our supply of timber has forced us to a one-shift operation at the Fredonia (Ariz) Mill," said Don Olson, KFP president. "The reduced number of timber sales available is a direct result of the complexities of the current forest plan and the litigation and appeals ap-peals of certain preservation groups who oppose the shared use of the national forest," he said. |
