We Can Accomplish Much Good of Our Own Free Will without Being Commanded." is the topic of the weekly LDS Forum Tuesday at the LDS Institute of Religion at 12 noon. Speaking to this topic will be Jack Weyland, author of the popular book, "Charly."' Weyland has also written nearly two dozen short stories which have ap peared in the New Era magazine. He has also written the screenplay for one of his stories, "The Phone Call," which has won the following awards: second place, Silver Screen Award; U.S. Industrial Film Festival, 1978; Golden Eagle Award; Council on International Non-Theatrical Non-Theatrical Events, Nov. 1978. He is an associate professor of physics at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and has done much research in solid state physics. Weyland is married to Sheryl Raner, and they have five children. He was born in Butte, Mont., and graduated from Billings Senior High School. He also attended Montana State University where he obtained his B.S. degree. He got his Ph. D. in physics from Brigham Young University. |
