A Utah Passive Solar Building Workshop will be held Apr 16 at Southern Utah State College for builders, designers, retailers and homeowners. Sponsored by SUSC, Western Sun and Utah Western Sun, workshop instructors will represent Londe-Parker-Michels, a St. Louis energy consulting con-sulting firm which specializes in passive solar design and analysis. "Through this day-long workshop, participants will learn the theory and practice behind passive solar energy how it works, how to sell it and why its approach is so sensible in these energy short times," said Daphne Dalley, coordinator coor-dinator of conferences and workshops at SUSC. Western Sun, Dalley explained, is the Western Solar Utilization Network, Net-work, one of four regional solar 'centers under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy to promote solar energy. Utah Western Sun is a part of the 13-state Western Sun and has been established to help make Utahns aware of the potential for saving energy, and to encourage Utahns to rely on alternate energy resources to the maximum extent possible. The cost of the . workshop is $40, which includes the Utah Passive Solar Workbook, break refreshments and lunch. Workshop instructors are Timothy Michels, president of Londe-Parker-Michels, inc., and Sherri Kimes, an energy analyst with Michels' company and former director of St. Louis County's Home Energy Conservation Program.
