Ms. Horton is a 1979 graduate of Springville High School, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Horton. Beasley graduated from American Fork High School in 1978. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beasley. Freshmen Kurt Opprecht, Op-precht, Brigham City, and Richard Wilson, Fallon, Nev., will also represent SUSC. Both are communications majors. Opprecht is a 1980 graduate of Box Elder High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Opprecht. Wilson is a 1980 graduate of Churchill Chur-chill County High School, Fallon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wilson. Southern Utah State College is being represented by five forensic teams Apr. 4-6 in CEDA competition at the University of Nevada, Reno Invitational. "SUSC is ranked eighth nationally in CEDA competition, two points behind seventh ranked University of California, Berkeley, and five points behind sixth ranked Air Force Academy," said ' M. L. Smith, SUSC forensic coach. "Many CEDA contenders, con-tenders, including first ranked UCbA, limit themselves strictly to CEDA competition; that is, they don't compete in individual events or in NDT debate as we do." The live T-Bird teams competing at Reno have all contributed ballots towards SUSC's current standing. CEDA captain Craig LeDuc, a senior com mun ica tions-political science major from West Jordan, indicated that CEDA standings are talleyed for each school by totaling ballots won by the school's top two teams in their best six ' tournaments. The Reno Invitational is the last CEDA contest of the year. "The best CEDA team in the country is named because of all ac-cummulated ac-cummulated ballots or points earned during the entire season rather than on the basis of its standing stan-ding in a particular tournament," LeDuc said. CEDA debate, he said, is basically value oriented as opposed to NDT or National Debate Topic, which is policy oriented. "The NDT topic this year deals with the pros and cons of increasing in-creasing the national defense budget while CEDA deals with the analytical problems associated with the separation of church and state." Last year LeDuc and Tracy Ashman, Provo, represented SUSC at the Reno Invitational. They finished with a 4-2 record, having the speaker points but not the record to break into the final rounds. LeDuc, a veteran member of the SUSC forensic squad, will debate this weekend with "Scott Pullan, a sophom pre com-munica com-munica tions-education major from South Jordan. Jor-dan. LeDuc is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. LeDuc, West Jordan, a 1977 graduate of Bingham High School. Pullan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Pullan, South Jordan, is a 1979 graduate of Bingham High School. Sophomores Karen Reeves, Cedar City, and Kim-michelle DeAdder, Orem, will also represent SUSC at Reno. Reeves is a 1979 graduate of Cedar High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Devon Reeves. DeAdder is a 1979 graduate of Orem High School, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley DeAdder. Both debaters are communications com-munications majors at SUSC; Ms. DeAdder is also majoring in elementary education. The third SUSC CEDA team is Annette Chilinski, a junior business ad-ministration-communications major from West Jordan, and Mike L. Olsen, a freshman fresh-man communications major from Orem.
