Show Bank changes name Walker Bank will join nearly 900 branches affiliated with Western Bancorporation changing their name to "First Interstate Bank" on June 1. Paul Whetman; manager of Cedar City's Walker Bank, said the change to a single identity would make the bank the ninth largest single bank in the United States. "Our customers will have the advantage of a lot more assets working for them," Whetman said. "In addition, when traveling throughout the West, Walker Bank customers will be able to cash checks and receive other banking services in easily-recognizable locations." The consolidation into a single "First Interstate Bank" will affect 21 separate banks in the' western United States. Walker Bank is the only Utah bank belonging to Western Bancorporation. The new bank expects to have assets in excess of $30 billion, and 850 different dif-ferent offices. Western Bancorporation officials say the common name will save the individuasl banks money in the long 1 run. |
