Show Police Beat Cedarite arrested An accident on Main Street Saturday night resulted in the arrest of a Cedar City man for driving under the in-I in-I fluence of alcohol, J leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving on a revoked license. The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. when a pickup truck allegedly driven by Michael B. Lund, 18, reportedly collided into the rear of a pickup driven by Melbourne Ashdown, 75, also of Cedar City, at the intersection of 200 North Main Street, according to a police spokesman. Mrs. Louise Ashdown, 57, received minor head injuries in the accident. Lund was taken into custody several blocks from the accident scene when he was located by Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Legrand Lyman on Center Street. Officers further reported that as they were doing routine arrest 1 procedures on Lund in the jail facility, Lund allegedly escaped their custody and was later apprehended in the area of 200 East and 200 South. Officers are seeking a felony escape complaint against Lund from the county attorney's office. Lund was released Sunday afternoon on $1,850 bail. In an unrelated incident, in-cident, three men were arrested for joyriding early Saturday morning after Sergeant Dennis Anderson observed a car and motorcycle driving through a neighborhood at 3 a.m. with their lights out. After following the vehicles, Anderson found the motorcycle in a front yard and pursued the car into the neighborhood of 500 South and 225 West where the three occupants oc-cupants of the car allegedly fled on foot. All three alleged occupants oc-cupants of the car were later taken into custody. Arrested were Robert C. Beatty, 18, New , Harmony; Russell W. Beatty, 18, Cedar City; and Robert D. Green, 18, also of Cedar City. All three were released on misdemeanor citations. Friday night an adult and an unnamed 16-year-old were arrested for reckless burning after they allegedly burned a highly volatile compound near the Cornet store. The adult, Michael B. Houston, 18, of Cedar City, was arrested and released on a misdemeanor citation, and the juvenile was referred to Juvenile court for burning the liquid on the ground then allegedly throwing a flaming bottle |
