Bell also exceeded an SUSC record with his 6-10 leap in the high jump. That jump erased the old record of 6-6:!4 set in 1972 by Roger Cowan. SUSC's only other points came on a fifth place finish by Keenan Hart in the 1500 meters (3:59). "Keenan did not have a good day, but he still exceeded the 'old' school record," Adams said. "He does have a much better time (3:53.9) from a meet earlier this year." Adams figures he got "pretty good" performances-all factors considered-from Rick Palmer in the 400 intermediate in-termediate hurdles, Scott White in the 200 and 400 meters, and Jim Deakin in the 800 meters. "We still need what we've needed all spring, just a little good weather; that would do wonders for our time and distances," Adams says. Coach Boyd Adams is hoping a week away from formal competition and a little assistance from the weather will be just what the Southern Utah State College track team needs. The Thunderbirds won't be back in action again until April 11 when they host the University of Utah in a warm-up meet prior to full fledged action the next day for both teams in competition com-petition at Las Vegas, Nev.
