Show Hole in the Rock Discussed A combined meeting of the Sons of Utah Pioneers and the Historicla Society will be held Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Town & Country Restaurant. All members and their-partners their-partners a are invited to attend. The no-host dinner is also open to all prospective members and their partners. part-ners. Highlight of the evening will be a historical account of facts about southern Utah to be presented by Dr. Morris Shirts. He will discuss the Hole In The Rock Trek. President Stucki will Also discuss a series of events in conneciton with the Hole In The Rock Centennial events . scheduled to take place in Blanding. Included will be a relay runathon retracing the trail from Escalante scheduled May 10 through 12. On May 12, horseback riders will retrace the last leg of the journey that same morning. On May 17, a living history-program history-program will be presented at the Natural Bridges National Monument to be followed by a pageant to be presented at the San Juan High School Football field July 2 through 5. Every member of the SUP are invited to participate in these historical activities. The SUP will want to be a part of the events, President Stucki suggested. Dr. Warren Woolsey of the Cedar City Camp will be one of the runners to participate in the runathon retracing the trail from Escalante. Last summer Dr. Woolsey participated par-ticipated in the Nauvoo Marathon to Salt Lake City. He is a native of Escalante. Also to be discussed at the meeting will be possible trips to other areas of southern Utah during the summer months. |
