Show Couple Held on Bad Check Counts Two Cedar City residents were arrested in Las Vegas Friday on Iron County warrants issued after the couple allegedly stole over $11,000 worth of goods and services from almost 40 Cedar City merchants. Alan Leon Hall and his wife Gina Purcell Hall are currently being held in Nevada in connection with the second-degre felony theft case. They are , presently in custody in lieu of bonds set at $20,000 for Mr. Hall and $30,000 for Mrs. Hall. Local law enforcement reports show that the couple allegedly obtained ob-tained $11,000 in merchandise and services in February in Cedar City by writing personal checks against local bank accounts that had reportedly been closed prior to the dates the checks were written. According to Cedar City Police Chief Douglas S. Bolton, the arrests were the result of a combined effort by investigators from the Cedar City Police Department, the Iron County Sheriff's Office and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. Chief Bolton stated he was very pleased with the work done by the officers and deputies of Cedar City and Iron County in developing the 1 case and the hours of methodical preparation that led to Friday's arrests. Sheriff Ira Schopmann agreed that the well-coordinated detective work was to be praised. Merchandise ranging from clothing to furniture was reportedly involved in the illegal transactions. Six restaurants were also allegedly issued fraudulant checks for meals served. Chief Bolton stated that Las Vegas Metro officers found what appeared to be all or most of the items allegedly obtained by the couple when the two were arrested in a Las Vegas residence. Extradition of the Halls back to Utah will now be sought by Iron County law enforcement officers. |
