Show Gail Wood on Bank Board breakage of light bulbs when the lights are removed each year, stored, then reinstalled. rein-stalled. 3. Leaving the lights up reduces the breakage by almost one half, and therefore reduces the cost proportionately. The opinion of all concerned con-cerned then is that it is more sensible to just leave the lights up year round and replace only those bulbs that have burned out. Thank you. Lions Club Pres. James C. Robinson, Mayor. PA ROWAN - There have been some inquiries recently as to why the Christmas lights on main street in Parowan have not been taken down. The Lions and the City Council would like to take this opportunity to explain : the reasons for leaving the lights up year round. The reasons for leaving the lights up are as follows: 1. There is considerable cost involved to the Lions Club, who have assumed this responsibility as a community com-munity project each year, installing all the electrical wiring and then removing it after the Christmas season is over. 2. There is much more municipalities, REA's and Pumper Associations. Palmer also stated that the federation is following up on the possibility of getting a portion of Utah Power and Light's 25 percent share of the Intermountain Power Project which that utility has not yet contracted con-tracted for. He said that the possibility to also get a portion of an excess amount of power allocated to California from that project is being applied for. Palmer thought that Cedar City officials are also looking into these power sources. He reported that initial meetings with the Western Area Power Ad-; minsitration of the Department of" Energy were favorable for the federation to possibly receive a block of power from the Bureau of Reclamation when their allocation program is reviewed in 1988. |
