Show Wilderness Issues Aired by County ' Arlen Jensen of the Bureau of Land Management reported to the Iron County Commission on a 1,607 acre area called Spring Canyon within the county which is being considered for wilderness designation last Wed. The area is located east of Kanarraville and immediately north of the Zion National Park boundary. . ' Jensen described the area as "rugged" and said that it is currently used for limited sheep grazing. "If it is not that suitable for grazing I have no real objections. My only objection is that if it is made part of the park it will go into total preservation status while under the BLM it could still have 'multiple use' designation," said Commissioner James Clark. Commission Chairman Grant Seaman agreed saying, "If the land character lends itself to wilderness designation, I don't have any objections." |
