My Child," a drama about an Irish-American schoolteacher, played by Vanessa Redgrave, whose middle-aged pregnancy causes her to face a spiritual spiritu-al as well as physical dilemma. dilem-ma. Because of a misdiagnosis, misdiag-nosis, the woman must decide whether to give birth to what probably would be a mentally and physically deformed child or to consider the alternatives. alterna-tives. The drama, which also features Joseph Campanella Campanel-la and Jack Albertson, is sure to raise the ire of both pro- and anti-abortion factions. The teleplay's author, Louise Burns-Bisogno, a practicing Roman Catholic as well as a mother of five and grandmother of three, explains why she chose this as the topic of her first play. "I think it's important to show the dignity of life as well as the dignity of death. They're two sides of the same coin," she says. "The woman tends to trust authorities such as doctors, who give her all kinds of drugs, ralher than lo trust her own body. There is a terrible danger to the unborn, and women should take charge of their own bodies even until the moment of death."
