Show St. Paul's to celebrate Holy Week In anticipation of the celebratinr Easter, the congregation of St p,, Espicopal Church, 226 West Main i observing the traditions of Holy Week Jnpreparation for the event tr congregation will observe the JeJt Passover Wednesday night at 2 time loved ones and friends will eatkT around the Seder table. On Thursday night beginning at t p.m., Maundy Thursday will be oh. served with the Celebration of the Hoi Eucharist after which the Alter will h stripped and the crosses will be veilert in preparation for the Good Frifcv rites. A "Watch" will be held foUowJ the Maundy Thursday Services from 8:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. Friday. Good Friday services will begin with a Mass of the Pre-Sanctified at n a m and the services will continue with meditations and readings from the scriptures appointed for this day Hot Cross buns and coffee will be served in the Parish House following the ser. vices. Good Friday evening at 7 pm" the devotion known as the "Way of the Cross" will be held. This is an ada tation to local usage of a custom widely observed by pilgrims to Jerusalem; the offering of prayer at a series of piacej in that city traditionally associated with our Lord's passion and death. The services for Holy Saturday wifl begin Saturday at 11 p.m. with the Great Vigil of Easter. This will consist of the Lighting of the Pascal Candle with the New Fire, the candlelight service, scripture readings and wifl conclude with the Holy Eucharist beginning at midnight. Easter Sunday services will begin at 10 a.m. preceeded by a breakfast at 8 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will be held for the children following the Easter Services. All services will be conducted by the Rev. M. Gene Hutchins and the public is invited to worship with the congregation. |
