The Cats have a mark of 6 wins and 2 losses. Emery's pitcher was massacred in the bottom of the first inning as Union struck for six runs and a 6-0 lead. Jim Trowbridge led off for the Cats with a single and Lonnie Sammaripa got on base due to an error by Emery's third baseman. A walk to Dean Townsend loaded up the bases Trowbridge and Sammaripa scored on an error by the Spartan right fielder which also placed Don Buchanan on the base paths. Union's Kenny Anderton was hit by the pitcher to place runners at first, second se-cond and third. Jeff Samuels flied out for the second out, but Wayne Gingell ripped a pitch for a double and drove in Townsend and Buchanan. Bryan Eldredge singled to drive in Anderton and Gingell for a 6-0 lead. The Spartans scored three runs in the top of the third inning to cut Union's lead to three runs at 6-3. Snow singled and scored on a double by Cox. A sacrifice hit by Mortensen moved Cox to third base. Olsen ripped a single to knock in Cox and Olsen scored on an error er-ror by the centerfielder. Union added runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings for a 13 to 3 advantage. ad-vantage. Samuels was walked and Gingell singled.
