I , COMPLETING FINAL framing, workers are preparing for a 1,600 cubic yard concrete pour to complete turbine pedestal at the Bonanza When completed, the pedestal will support the turbine and generator, and will tower about three stories above ground level. Centric Corooration's contract on the Plant. The main turbine and generator will be placed on top of this pedestal. plant includes most of the substructure and underground facilities. This phase of work will continue through 1983. Crews of major steel-work contractors contrac-tors have not been on the site, but are expected before May. The single living quarters, provided by Deseret, are nearly half full. Also the Cobble Rock recreational vehicle park is nearly full. Workers at the power plant should peak this summer at between 800 and 900, Deseret personnel said. Concrete for the power plant is being furnished by Acme Concrete from a batch plant located at the site. Site preparation work, being performed per-formed by W. W. Clyde Construction Company, is moving into final phases. Heavy equipment is now excavating and diking a raw water pond and leveling level-ing the plant site. Clyde's crews are also completing a construction office building, and starting star-ting steel work on a large warehouse. The most visible work during this construction year will be the erection of the main superstructure steel, as well as completion of the chimney. Pullman Power Products, the prime contractor on the chimney project, is now on site continuing the concrete outer shell. Now more than 160 feet high, the chimney shell is rising at a rate of 7'2 feet per day. The chimney measures approximately 50 feet across at the base. The outer concrete shell will be completed next August. Steel erection is being handled by Af-co Af-co Steel. Subcontractors are now on site, and much of the steel has been delivered ready for placement on foundation foun-dation structures. The work force on the project is gradually increasing as new contracts start. During this month it is estimated that the project work force will be above last year's peak of 565 workers. A computerized system of accounting for work force distribution is now being implemented, and data from this source will be compiled for release in the near future. The entire plant construction site is now fenced and full security implementedonly im-plementedonly authorized vehicles will be allowed on the site. Public information visits can be arranged, ar-ranged, if contact is made in advance at the Vernal Deseret G&T office. |
