Show Upland game questionnaire mailed out This week, 30,000 upland game hunters in Utah will receive an upland game harvest questionnaire in the mail giving Wildlife Resources biologists an overview of the success of all upland game seasons. According to Jon Leatham, upland game biologist for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, it is important that hunters who receive a questionnaire fill it out accurately: It provides essential harvest information which is used for managing Utah's upland game, including in-cluding pheasants, grouse, chukars, doves and rabbits. Persons who purchased a 1979 combination com-bination or small game hunting license may receive the opportunity to help manage Utah's upland game. Hunters who receive the questionnaire should fill it out completely and return it in the postage paid envelope as soon as possible. possi-ble. According to Leatham, one of the biggest big-gest problems is getting hunters to return the questionnaires. Not enough personnel are available to personally interview hunters throughout the entire state, so this is the only method to contact con-tact them. Successtul hunters seem to return questionnaries more readily, but the information in-formation from the less successful hunters is equally as valuable in determining deter-mining the overall harvest and success of the season. Hunters who return their questionnaries contribute a great deal to Utah's upland game managment program. |
