Show Head-on collision results in arrest On Sunday', February 3, Officer Manuel Cantu investigated a traffic accident at approximately 180 East 500 North involving a near head on collision by two vehicles. At the conclusion of the accident investigation, Officer Cantu and Detective-Sgt. Robert Downard initiated further investigation into the matter. This investigation resulted in . the arrest of Terry J. Hillis, age 22, Vernal, Utah, charged with aggravated assault, a 3rd degree felony under Utah State Law. The police allege that Hillis intentionally in-tentionally and recklessly collided with a vehicle driven by his wife after a family dispute. Hillis was incarcerated in Uintah County Jail, and subsequently sub-sequently released on $2,500 bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence sen-tence of $5,000 fine and-or 0-5 years in the Utah State Penitentiary or both. Assisting in the investigation were Officer David W. Free and Pa'trol-Sgt. Glen C. Hill, both of Vernal City Police Department. Sgt. Hill, the department's depart-ment's traffic accident expert, reconstructed the accident and provided vital information in the investigation in-vestigation to investigating officers. |
