USfiitfolfi) to cscrrDTDEb) Sim The Uintah Utes will invade Tooele for the Region 7 wrestling war between the Utes. Beetdiggers, Buffaloes, Pirates and Spartans, Thursday. The first round will begin at 11 a.m. and the second round will start at 1:30 p.m. Wrestle backs will be held at 3 p.m. and consolation finals will begin at 6 p.m. The finals will start at 7:30 p.m. Three wrestlers will have byes in the first round. The top three tusslers in the 105, 112, 145, 155, 135, heavyweight, and the top four in the 98, 119, 126, 132, 138 and 167 weight classes will advance to the 3-A State Tournament, February 14, 15 and 16 at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. The Utes are the defending state champions. Uintah High School wrestlers, who will be competing in the Region 7 Tournament, Tour-nament, are: 98-Brett Brown, 11-1; 105-Ron Horrocks, 17-5: 112-Foston Chivers, 11-11; 119-Jeff Good, 8-8; 126-Cory McNeill. 12-12; 132-Allen Huber, 7-13; 138-Matt Hacking, 23-2; 145-Randy Smuin, 21-6-1; 155-Kay Smuin, 9-7; 167-Billy Bedell, 14-10-1; 185-Art Daley, 16-11 and heavyweight Ken Cobbs, 20-3. Randy posted a 10-0-1 record in dual meets. The Utes finished in first place during the regular season in Region 7 at 4 wins and 0 losses. Uintah toppled Tooele, 43 to 6; thumped Cyprus, 44 to 9; downed Murray, 62-6 and defeated Jordan, 34 to 12. Six Uintah Utes were undefeated in Region 7 matches, and five Utes had only on-ly one loss. Ken Cobbs, Matt Hacking and Randy Smuin had 4-0 marks. Kay Smuin was 3-0, and Ron Horrocks, Brett Brown were 2-0. Monte Morris, 105 and Josh Reynolds, 98, who were defeated in wrestle offs by Horrocks and Brown, nabbed 2-0 marks. Brown toppled Reynolds, who is the defending state champion at 98 pounds. Foston Chivers, Jeff Good, Allen Huber, Billy Bedell and Art Daley posted 3-1 records and Cory McNeill had a 2-2 mark. Uintah finished the dual meet season with a record of 8 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. The Utes toppled Rock Springs, Wyoming, 25-22; downed Tooele, 43-6; thumped Steamboat Springs 43-9; smashed Murray, 62-6; downed Union, 32-12; toppled Cyprus, 44-9; defeated Jordan, 34-12 and thumped Green River, 37 to 15. The Wolves are the defending state champions from Wyoming. Rock Springs is also a powerful team from Wyoming. The Utes were nipped by Grand Junction Central, 34-20 and were edged by Nam-pa, Nam-pa, the defending state champion from Idaho, 21-18. Uintah tied with Meeker, the defending state champion from Colorado, 21-21. The Uintah Utes captured first place in the Steamboat Springs and Vernal Tournaments. Uintah placed third in the Rock Springs Tournament and fifth in the Green River Tournament. Matt Hacking, 138, captured first place titles in the Vernal, Green River and Steamboat Steam-boat Springs Tournaments. Hacking placed second in the Rock Springs Tournament. Hacking has suffered only two losses during the regular season. He was downed by Ron Slassinus, defending state champion from Rock Springs, Wyoming, and was nipped by Nampa, Idaho's Lamond Thueson. Hacking has downed Stassinos in three out of four matches, and he defeated Thueson in the Vernal Tournament. Ken Cobbs captured first place titles in (he Steamboat Springs and Rock Springs Spr-ings Tournaments, and placed second in the Vernal Tournament. He nabbod third place in the Green River Tournament. Tourna-ment. Also placing in the Steamlxwt Springs Spr-ings Tournament for Uintah were: Cory McNeill, second; Allen Huber. Billy Bedell, Art Daley, third and Handy Smuin, second. Ron Horrocks nabbed first place in the Vernal Tournament, and nabted fourth place in the Rock Springs and Green River Tournaments. Brett Brown placed first in the Vernal Tournament and nabbed third place in the Green River Tournament. Also placing in the Vernal Tournament were: Cory McNeill, Billy Bedell, third; Randy Smuin, Kay Smuin, second se-cond and Art Daley, fourth.
