The Utes nabbed first place with a 4-0 record and Jordan Jor-dan placed second at 3-1. Uintah won the first five matches in the battle with the Beetdiggers for an 18-0 advantage. The Utes' 98 pounder, Brett Brown, fell behind 2-0 when Jordan's Jor-dan's Kyle Hansen dropped the Uintah tussler for a takedown in the first round. Hansen had a 2-0 lead going into the third round, but Brown pocketed a reversal and two-point near fall for a 4-2 victory. Ron Horrocks, 105, increased Uintah's Uin-tah's lead to 9-0 when he pinned Jeff Dansie at the 55-second mark of the third round. Horrocks pocketed four near falls in the first two rounds. The battle between Uintah's Foston Chivers, 112 pounds and Jody Chavez was a wild encounter until Chivers gained complete control of the match in the third round. Chivers nabbed a takedown in the first round for a 2-0 lead, and nabbed a reversal and a three-point near fall in the second round for a 7 to 4 lead. Chavez gained two reversals in the second round, but Chivers blanked the Jordan tussler, 4-0. in the third round by gaining a reversal and placing his opponent in a pinning situation for a two-point near fall. Mark Wall, Jordan's 119 pounder, dropped Jeff Good of Uintah for a takedown and placed the Vernal mat-man mat-man on his back. However. Good escaped from the pinning situation, nabbed a takedown, and uas only three points behind at 6 to 3 after the wild first round. The third round was all Good's as he acquired a reversal and two near falls for a 9 to 6 win, which gave the Utes a 15 to 0 advantage, after four matches. Cory McNeill's contest against Jordan's Jor-dan's 126 pounder, Brad Densley, was another comeback win for the Utes Densley nabbed the takedown in the first round for a 2-0 advantage, and in creased his lead to 3-0 in the second round due to an escape. The turning point of the match took place when McNeill nabbed a takedown, which made the score at the end of the second round. 3 to 2, in favor of Densley.
