Show Enid Hatch Phone 789-3150 I 1 9 Roland Trogstad returns from BLM school Roland Trogstad of Maeser returned last week from a land resources and management schooling which was held in Phoenix, Arizona, for the managers of the local BLM office. N Florence Williams, Mildred Hacking, Louisa Hacking, and Lora Chew from Jensen attended the three day "YVomens Conference" held in the Wilkerson Center on the campus at BYU. They were at the lecture where Alex Haley related his extensive research in the writing of his book "Roots." At the conference were two daughters of Mrs. Mildred Hacking, Marilyn Beesely from Draper, and Son-dra Son-dra Eley from Tacoma, Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Carroll have had news from their daughter, Kathleen Palmer, that a daughter had arrived January 17 in Auckland, New-Zealand. New-Zealand. Her name is to be Jeanette. She weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. The other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth M. Palmer of Auckland, New Zealand. Great Grandfather is Leroy Carroll of Maeser. The Carrols also received news of their son, Kent Smith who is on duty with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Forestall which is on tour of the Mediterranean Sea, that at present he is at port at Alexandria, Egypt. His wife lives in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Davis Montgomery were able to bring their son Mark home on Monday from the Wasatch Medical Center' in Heber City. Mark had a broken leg in a skiing accident at Park West. Mrs. Darlene Miller from Far West, Utah near Ogden, spent the weekend at the home of her daughters' family, Jack and Carol Ralls. Norman Massey suffered a heart attack at-tack but has improved enough to return home Tuesday to recuperate. A large group of friends accompanied Sally Hampton and Cliftia Purcell to Provo. Visitors at the Dean Evans home on the weekend were Lloyd and Josie Winkler, Dana, Vicky, Dale and Ron Bjorkman from Fielding, Utah; Larry and Connie Earl from Logan; Mrs. Edna Ed-na Evans of Altamont. Grant and Marba Ainge from Range-ly, Range-ly, Mary Peterson, Fran and Gladys Peterson from Jensen, Nile and Ella Ainge from Vernal, George D. and Dianne Merkley were guests at a dinner Sunday afternoon at the home of Morgan and Vicky Ainge. Mrs. Lola (Bowden) Stoner from Grand Junction recently spent a two week visit at her mothers home, visiting with May Bowden; uncle, Bob Schanno.- and aunt, Iola East in Vernal; her brothers and sisters and other friend and relatives. The fire at the old Fox home where the Walt Burfetts are living was put out without too much damage. Sadie McConkie had to be moved to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City where she is in the cardiac department of the hospital. A testimonial will be held at the Maeser Second Ward Chapel Sunday February 10 at 2:30 for Layne Bennion, son of Bart and Lois Bennion who has been called to serve a two year mission for the LDS church is Sendai, Japan. Mark Johnson, Kevin and Peggy Tuckett, Malene Ward and sons Timothy, Doug and Joshua from Elmo near Price were visitors at the Lewis Johnson home over the weekend. |
