A fence is being proposed pro-posed by H.S. Sowards as soon as Vernal City clears the way for construction. The fence will block the view and cut down the noise for the neighbors to the east, according to Glade M. Sowards. H.S. Sowards truck terminal An article appearing in the last issue of the Vernal Ver-nal Express, Jan. 31, was wrong in saying the Vernal Ver-nal City Council gave the H.S. Sowards and Sons Bulk Plant 30 days to live up to the ordinances of Vernal City, instead it is the H.S. Sowards and Sons Truck Terminal located east of Superior Tire that was given the order by the council. Apparently truckers refuel at the stop and diesel overflows from their tanks down a ditch and into a residential ' area directly east of the truck terminal. In the Jan. 19 meeting, the council listened to complaints by residents of the area of noise, smoke and odor from the truck terminal. Last summer, terminal representatives met with the council and promised to install a retaining wall and to move diesel refueling refuel-ing tanks to alleviate the complaints of neighbors, according to Lloyd Eaton, resident of the area. |
