Jacobsen, 22, who died April 19, 1980 from an oil rig accident, were last Tuesday in the Vernal Ninth Ward chapel. Mr. Jacobsen was born in Vernal, March 17, 1958, to Ivan 0. and Mable Scott Jacobsen. He married Christina Beth Loos Oct. 16, 1976 in Vernal and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Jacobsen worked as a rotary helper on a drilling rig for R.L. Manning, Man-ning, Bishop Roland Hein conducted the funeral service and Nick Huntington gave the family prayer. Dalyn Shaffer and Shauna Moon sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," followed by the invocation by Keith Huntington. James Moon spoke following remarks by Bishop Hein. Dorothy Peltier and Daun White sang "Via Con Dios," and Bud Jacobsen spoke. The benediction was given by Willy McCurdy, and Maureen Johnson provided the prelude and postlude music. Gib Kynaston dedicated the grave in the Jensen City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wally Moon, James Moon, Ben Clark, David Jacobsen, Doug Shackleford, Ronnie Martin, Kenny Oaks and Randy Anderson. Honoray pallbearers were Nick Huntington, Bill Hunsaker, Mitch Huntington, and Mark Grando. Survivors include widow of Vernal; son and daughter Cherie Lynn, Steven Paul both of Vernal; father, Ivan 0. Jacobsen of Dinosaur, Colo, and mother, Mrs. Mable Copeland of Vernal; and brother and sisters, Bud Jacobsen of Salt Lake City, Dallas, of Vernal, Mrs. D.K. (Betty Ann) Huntington Hun-tington of Ogden, Mrs. Albert (Chick) Fread of Denver, Mrs. Odette Layton of Denver, Colo., and David Jacobsen of Vernal. |
