Show I i 'V JOHN SMITH Scouter awarded Silver Beaver During the Annual Fellowship Dinner, Din-ner, April 19, it was announced that John Smith would receive the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award an adult scouter can receive on a council level. Smith, not present at the dinner, will receive the award at a latter date. Smith has served for 12 years as assistant explorer leader, explorer leader, district commissioner and varsity var-sity coach. He is also the recipient of the Second Miler Award. He has been active in the LDS Church where he has been involved with youth and scouting. He serves on the Uintah School Board where he is president, and is active in the Vernal Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. In a release from the Utah National Parks Council, Smith is commended: "He has been generous with his time and talent and is known for his willingness will-ingness to help scouting succeed in his area." Thirty-one other scouters were awarded Silver Beavers during the dinner din-ner at the Brigham Young University main ballroom. Recipeints of the Beaver Award were selected by the council committee, representing all areas of the council, from nominations submitted by fellow scouters who deem them worthy. |
