Show Cougars smash Wasps Union High School clobbered the Wasatch Wasps, April 16, in Roosevelt, ll to 1 and 12 to 4. Tracy Dye was the winning pitcher in the first game with Wasatch and Brent Fenn nabbed the win in the second game. The two wins over Wasatch places Union in first place in Region 7 at 5 wins and 1 loss. Grantsville and Lehi are in second place at 6-2 and Intermountain is in fourth place at 5-3. Morgan and Wasatch have one win each. Union will host Intermountain, Thursday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. "Intermountain "In-termountain split with Grantsville. They have been in every ball game. They have two good pitchers," stated Union baseball coach, Lynn Patterson. Patterson added, "Our hitting has really improved. The kids are making a lot more contact and are getting more extra base hits. We have more power. Troy May is hitting over .500. Brent -Fenn and Tracy Dye has put in some good pitching performances. Dye has been able to go all the way most of the . time. We got about 15 to 16 hits in the second game with Wasatch." The Union Cougars split with the Pioneers in Lehi, Monday, in Region 9 baseball action. Union won the first game, 4 to 3. The second game was tied at 1-1 after six innings. Union had one man on base in the bottom of the sixth inning, but were unable to drive him in. Lehi scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning on errors by Union to win the second game by the score of 4 to 1. Union now has a region record of 6 wins and 2 losses. |
