The Steamboat Springs Sailors were award1 ' ed first place with 174 points and Glen-, wood Springs nabbed second place at 53 counters. Uintah collected third place with 47 points and Roaring Fork finished finish-ed one point behind the Utes in fourth place at 46 points. Union netted fifth place at 45 counters and Plateau Valley placed sixth at 28 points. Eagle Valley nabbed seventh place at 26 points and Rangely pocketed eighth place with 24 counters. Rifle placed ninth at 23 points and Meeker pocketed tenth place with 13 points. However, Uintah was denied a second place finish by Jerry Allred in the 2-mile when officials state that Allred was lapped, but Uintah's coaches, Rick Phillips and Curg Belcher, Union's coaches, Jay Omer, Brad Monks and a fifth place finisher in the event, Alma Hall, Union, said that Jerry Allred was the second place winner. Second place is worth eight points and thus Uintah should have placed second with 55 points. Uintah's Jerry Allred captured second se-cond place in the mile with a time of 4:44.2. Curg Belcher had a second place time of 10:29 for Allred in the 2 mile. Ron Ellis pocketed third place in the 120 yard high hurdles and Marty McCarrel leaped 41'G" for third place in the triple jump. Uintah's 880 yard relay team. Marty McCarrel, Clark McClelian, Dave Emery and Randy Smuin placed : third with a time of 1:37.3. The Utes' mile relay team also placed third. Randy Ran-dy Smuin pocketed fourth place in (he 880 yard run with a time of 2: 10.1. Nabbing fifth places for Uintah were: Marty McCarrel, 100 yard dash; David Stone, triple jump, 38'2 "; Mike Johnson, 440 yard dash, 220 yard dash, 23.8 and Marty McCarrel, long jump, 18'8". Collecting sixth places were Clark McClelian, 100 yard dash and Dave Emery, shot put, 40'7". The Steamboat Spring Sailors dominated the meet as they captured ten first place crowns. Uintah had two key tracksters, Kay Smuin and Hick Morton, out with injuries. Steamboat Springs' Joe Ramunno set a new Rangely Invitational record in the discus, 149'7V and shot put, 54'6'i". Graf of Steamboat Springs placed first in the 440, .50.8 and in the 220 yard dash, 22.6. His time in the 440 yard dash was a new record. Steamboat Springs had a triple first place winner in Southall. The Sailor placed first in the 330 yard hurdles, 40.1, 880 yard run, 2:03.8 and long jump, 21'4". Steamboat Springs also placed first in the mile relay, 3:28.3 and in the 880 yard relay, 1:37.3. Uintah will compote in the Craig Invitational, Saturday in Colorado. The Utes will host Murray, Tuesday, April 29 at 3:30 p.m. Uintah's sophomores will compete in a meet in Magna, May 1 and the Brigham Young University Invitational is set for May 3.
