Show Filing period opens for political candidates The filing period for partisan political offices began April 15, and politicians have until May 12 to file their intentions to seek office. Uintah County voters will vote for a President of the United States, one U.S. Senator, and one U.S. Representative, governor, secretary of state, attorney general, state auditor, state treasurer, a state legislator and a state school board member. All state candidates must file at the secretary of state's office in the State Capitol. On the local level, voters will vote for two school board members, one from precinct 4 now held by Max Todd and precinct 5 held by Gary Taylor. Two county commissioners will be voted for, one for a two-year term held by Neal Domgaard and a four-year term now held by Roland Merkley. The local state legislator position to be voted for is presently held by Gayle F. McKeachnie. Candidates seeking county seats must file with the county clerk. Judical candidates file during the month of June and school board candidates can-didates file anytime with a June 25 deadline. Mass meetings this year will be held May 19. Citizens can register to vote during office hours at county clerks' offices. Neighborhood voter registration days are August 5, 9 and 26 and Oct. 11, 14 and 28. |
