Show Search and Rescue ... rummage sale The Uintah County Search and Rescue Patrol announce their annual rummage sale to -be held Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the S. &.R. building. The functioning capacity of the patrol depends on the proceeds generated from the rummage sale and from donations. These funds go toward purchase of equipment for scuba diving, radios, mountain climbing, and various other rescue techniques. Commander Mike Adams lists the priorities of the S.&.R. as 1. scuba equipment purchase and replacement, 2. new crystals for their radios to be on the Sheriff's frequency, and 3. utilities and maintenance for their building. The members donate their time and vehicles to their search and rescue duties and training sessions. No money goes directly to the members for searches. It is spent for either training or equipment. Last year the patrol netted about $4,000 from the rummage sale. "This year, we're trying for a bigger and better one," states Coke Jeffries, who is the rummage sale chairman. |
