Show FHA CLUB By Cathy Brown David Cockcain, from the Provo March of Dimes, visited the Future Homemakers of America club on Monday. Mr. Cockcain showed films and asked the members mem-bers of the F.H.A. to help with the annual walka-thon. walka-thon. Why a walkathon? Mr. Cockcain expressed the need of concern that: 1 of 14 babies-possibly yours in the future is born defective; 250,000 babies each year are born imperfectly; This nation ranks 15th among the countries in the world in preventing infant morality; 1 in 10 American families fami-lies has a birth defective member; and Your children-to-be are born with their birth right, to be whole and healthy. March of Dimes continues contin-ues research into the causes of birth defects. The money received from the walkathon will go directly to patients, and to prenatal care, genetic counseling, and to public and professional education. educa-tion. Also attending the meeting were two advisors advis-ors from Monticello and Blanding. Members from the Moab F.H.A. also talked about getting a walkathon going between clubs at the high school in which each club would compete against the other to see which could walk the more miles. |
