Show News from City Court . . . There were a flock of cases of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor (DUI) in City court during the week, indicating indi-cating that officers are cracking down on this offense. On March 9 Barbara Lynn Bertelet appeared on a DUI charge which also involved an automobile accident. At her arraignment arraign-ment she entered a plea of guilty. She was sentenced to pay $250 fine and serve 60 days in jail. She was placed on 1 year probation with the jail sentence suspended sus-pended on payment of the fine and satisfactory completion com-pletion of probation. In State vs. Joseph M. Rodman, the defendant was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. He entered a plea of guilty to both charges. On the DUI charge he was sentenced to pay a $200 fine and serve 60 days in jail, and was placed on one year probation. For leaving the scene he was fined $150 and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Both jail sentences were suspended on payment pay-ment of the fines and satisfactory completion of probation. In State vs. Joe D. Martinez, who was charged char-ged with DUI, defendant entered a plea of guilty at his arraignment and was sentenced to pay a $250 fine and serve 60 days in jail. He was placed on 1 year probation. The court suspended $100 of the fine and the jail sentence upon satisfactory completion of probation, which was transferred to Price. On March 13 in State vs. Alberta Vigil, also known as Alberta Ann DeCrow, the defendant was charged with attempted attemp-ted murder in the second degree and aggravated assault. She appeared for arraignment with counsel, Harry Snow. He requested request-ed a preliminary hearing, which is scheduled for April 18 at 10 a.m.. She was remanded to the custody of the sheriff. Her bond, either $10,000 property bond, $5,000 cash bond or the same by a licensed bondsman, was continued. A $5,000 undertaking un-dertaking of bail was filed on March 14 and she was released from custody. On March 13 Alan Lloyd Holyoak appeared for arraignment on a DUI charge. He entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced sen-tenced to pay a $200 fine and serve 40 days in jail. He was placed on 1 year probation and the jail sentence was suspended on payment of the fine and satisfactory completion of probation. On March 14 Allen Lee Bleak appeared on a DUI charge. At his arraignment arraign-ment he entered a plea of guilty to a reduced charge of public intoxication. He was sentenced Jo pay a $125 fine, with $50 suspended. |
