Show Occupational training program set for rural disadvantaged A new occupational training program, designed design-ed to aid disadvantaged youth from any rural area of the State is now underway at Snow College, Col-lege, Dixie College and the College of Eastern Utah. In announcing the new program, college officials have solicited applications from all sections sec-tions of the State for enrollment in the program. pro-gram. Individuals between the ages of 16 and 21 who are not currently enrolled in an organized educational program and who qualify on the basis of economic need may be eligible. Those interested are urged urg-ed to contact their local State Job Service office or the Office of Community Services at Snow College for further details. Funded by the Department Depart-ment of Labor through the State Office of Labor and Training, the new program pro-gram will serve as a pilot project for possible adaptation adap-tation in other areas of the nation. It is intended to give rural youths (male and female), an opportunity opportun-ity to gain a sense of occupational direction, to remedy basic educational deficiencies, to gain occupational oc-cupational skills through classroom , training and work experience and to receive assistance in post-training post-training placement. A training stipend is available avail-able to qualified applicants appli-cants and college or high-school high-school completion credit may also be arranged. The classroom training program pro-gram will be conducted at one of the three Utah community colleges with work experience arranged in a position related to the self-selected training program. Administered through a consortial arrangement of the three community colleges, col-leges, the project office is located at Snow College. Project staff includes Lyle J. Loosle, former public- school administrator, and Dr. Stephen McKibben, formerly employed by Job Service. In addition, the occupational faculty and support staff of each of the three colleges will provide basic educational services. servic-es.
