Show W. A. CLARK, JR., A VISITOR HERE Heinze's Chief Engineer Is in His Party, and Mining Men Wonder If More Property Is Sought. W. A. Clark, Jr., and party of men arrived ar-rived from Butte, Mont., this morning. After registering at the Wilson, Clark immediately left for down town. Included Includ-ed in the party, besides Clark, were J. A. Ryan, O. A. Lamer and Alfred Frank. As to the object of their visit to this city, none of the party was communicative. The fact that Alfred Frank, chief engineer en-gineer of the Heinxe staff, accompanied the party, caused some speculation among mining men as to whether the Butte millionaires mil-lionaires were out for more of the mining properties of this State. Further than this it is known that young Clark has been invited to take a hand in the development de-velopment of some of the mining properties proper-ties within a radius of a few miles of Salt Lake City, and that he has taken the proposition seriously. Dispatches from Washington state that Senator William A. Clark of Montana Mon-tana will be in Utah in about ten days. The announcement, coming so closely after the disastrous washouts on the Rait Lake line, of which Senator Clark is president, is considered by those in a position to know as significant. For some time it has been known that the highest officials of the road were contemplating con-templating changing the route so that the 100-mile stretch in Meadow valley, which has been giving so much trouble, will be cut out. |
