Show WEIGHTS AND MEASURES PRESENTED IN HOUSE A bill creating a standard of weights and measures for the State Is established In a bill Introduced In the House of Representatives Rep-resentatives yesterday. The bill establishes estab-lishes a standard similar to the United States standards. Avoirdupois pounds shall bear to troy pounds the relation of 7000 to 6760. The hundred-weight shall contain 100 pounds and the ton 2000 pounds. A barrel shall contain 31 gallons, and a hogshead two barrels. The dry gallon must contain 282 cubic Inches and the liquid gallon 231 cubic Inches. The bushel shall contain 2150.42 cubic Inches. The following number num-ber of pounds shall be contained In a bushel: Wheat, 60 pounds; Indian corn or rye, 56 pounds; barley, 48; oats. 32; corn meal, 50; rye meal, 60; peas, 60; potatoes, 60; apples, 48; carrots, 60; onions. 62; clover seed. 60; herd grass of timothy seed. 45; bran and shorts, 20; flaxseed, 65; coarse salt. 70; fine salt, 60: lime. 70; sweet po-tatoes,v-64; beans, 60; dried apples, 25; dried peaches, 33; rough rice, 45; upland cotton seed, 30; Sea Island cotton seed, 44; buckwheat, 48. . |
