Show JACK WM IDOL DF GRIDIRDPl WOULD Aggie Coach Credited With i Putting Championship ! Team in Field, LOGAN, Dec. 1. John Wesley Watson, Wat-son, who was only two years ago the idol of the Illinois university fans and the peer of the center position men in the Big Nine conference, is now the talk of the Rooky Mountain conference sport circles, especiaJly in Colorado, inasmuch in-asmuch as he is the first man to lead a Utah football team through a season without a single defeat. Watson 's team, this year, although underrated, is tied for the title, but the Utah Farmers claim their share of the honors, and. in fact, claim the cham- pionship. as they have tried in every wav to arrange to play the Denver uni-I uni-I versitv for tho title. Colorado writers are very much inter-! inter-! ested in the Utah Aggies this year as I they sprang up unexpectedly and led every conference agsregation, among them the teams that- Save always -won the honors. The Utah boys have not apneared in the Centennial state this year and consequently the Colorado "fans would have enjoyed a game between be-tween the two leaders in the conference confer-ence and are bitterly disappointed that the negotintions for the game fell I through. The University of Utah has : always worried the Colorado teams, but his year the Aggies stepped in and took them by surprise and won from everv aggregation, so that no doubt remained re-mained as to the superiority of the Watson eleven over rny opponents. 'l ue Agpies are sorry that the game with the Montana Aggies was piayed under unfavorable conditions and they Eav that should the two teams meet ngnin they would take Bennion "s Farmers Farm-ers into camp by at least forty points. Tho tie game thev r-laved with the Montanans docs not co down as a defeat de-feat against the Utah Aggies, but the boys are a bit pooved because they could not roll up a big score in that game. Captain Alvin Twitched of the Aggies Ag-gies aistinguishod himself this sea?or. bv his great work at left tackle. He : nlaved his Inst game in an Aggie uni-1 uni-1 form on Thanksgiving day and ;t was ' a fitting climax to his football career. He did not have the advantage of high school experience when he enme to the A. C having studied as a prep nt Murdock ao:'-le:nr. where he was a Iraskotbal and track star. He played his third year at the Agricultural col-b'o col-b'o this season and proved to be a vrv good leader as well as a star ! plavrr. Besides Twitched, Ariel Lind-nnist, Lind-nnist, end. is the only man "Watson will lose hv graduation and judging from the material that t he freshman squad will hand over and some prospective hifh school material, Walton will no doubt have a whirlwind eleven again next sensnn. |
