Show HOLIDAY ACCESSORY PURCK HEAVY Indicates Car Owners Will Drive All Winter, Says Brazier. Early Christmas shoppers are showing a strong preference for winter automobile accessories and supplies, according to B, E mazier, general sales manager of tne Inter-Mountain Electric company. Mr. Brazier savs that the brisk husMirfss in , liis company's automobile accessory de-'partmcnt de-'partmcnt indicates two things. One is i that the practice of making Christmas I purchases early is becoming more general, land the other is that more people than j ever before contemplate running their automobiles all winter. "Christmas buying has begun in earnest." says Mr. Brazier. "And the sort of oresents people are buying at the Inter-Mountain Electric company's store indicates that sensible, useful presents 'are going to be used almost entirely. Be- fore we began to realize the Feriouaness l of the war, when an automobilist wanted ia lap robe or a pair of gloves or an air i gauge or any of the dozens of things an .autoist needs he would go and buy it, as ! a matter of course. Things are a little I different now. He wears his old gloves jand uses the old lnp robe a little longer, arw) hopes some thoughtful member of the family or friend will put them In his Christmas stocking. "There is also a bigger demand for cold weather auto accessories than ever before. The inference from this is either , that more people than usual are going to i drive their cars through the winter or I else they are alive to the fact that winter i driving can be made almost as comforta-: comforta-: ble as in summer. One of the new electrical elec-trical devices which is very popula r is the steer-warmer, an electrical contrivance contriv-ance which keeps the hands of the driver comfortably warm. Other cold weather accessories are foot warmers and' electric heaters for the engine, which keep the radiator from freezing and make starting easy on cold mornings." Speaking of business generally, Mr. Brazier said that the volume of sales in all departments of the Inter-Mountain Electric company's store was away ahead of former years. Freak gifts which are intended to amuse rather than be serviceable ser-viceable are much less In demand than usual, he said, hut this is more than oiT-set oiT-set by the increased demand for ail kinds of electric cooking and labor-saving household appliances. |
