Show MKIOOS 10 SOLVE TIE MOSLEM Special t'- The Tribune. OGDEN, Dec. . Contending that the past easou has demonstrated how futile it wiU be for farmers to attempt at-tempt next year to depend ou hired help, officers of the Weber county farm bureau and W. P. Thomas, county agricultural ar.:, have inaugurated a campaign to overcome this dir'f i.ni; y. Flant crops that can be !iarv.-tod at various periods throughout the .reason, .rea-son, rather than one crop that comes ou at once, is ihe plan of the bureau officer. The followinij article on the Hihieet is contained in the current issue of the Weber County Farm Bureau News: The labor shorta:'1 dnrin the past season has dcmont rateu t hat it is useless to depend on hired help for our farm work. For the past two months the bureau has bee a working ou plans to remedy this condition. After consideris various schemes for securing extra ex-tra help, none seems practical, outside out-side of the farmer and his family, as the principal factors in row-int: row-int: crops for liUS. It then resolves itself to this planting of various crops aud at varioiHt times, to enable the farmer farm-er and his family to handle all the work on his farm, should it become be-come necessary. If any farmer has been in the habit of planting his entire farm into cno or two crops, depending on hired labor to care ior it. he should think twice before doing- so. Each local bureau should have a commitree to work with the county coun-ty committee in planning the kind of crops to be t;rown. And if they find a man who is planning on one crop for next season, a special effort ef-fort should be made by the bureau bu-reau 's committee in converting him to the idea that it does not pay at a time like the present to carrv ail your eetrs in one basket. Where practical, peas can be planted, and harvested in June; potatoes in July, tomatoes in September, Sep-tember, suar beets in October, and hav and grain can be oared for in between the crops mentioned, men-tioned, in case a man Las more land than he and his familv can work, a part should be fenced with a net wire, during the slack season, sea-son, and planted to a crop that can be harvested by either hos$ or sheep. By planning; in advance we can largely overcome the serious se-rious situation that we have had to face during the present season. Offden taberna ?!e at 1 o'clock.
