According to a telegram received yesterday yes-terday by the loc-ai army recruiting office of-fice from Adjutant General McCain of the war department, between now and Dec-ember 15 it is desired to afford registrants reg-istrants as -wide an opportunity as possible pos-sible to enlist in both the army and navy. Therefore any registrant, even though he has been called by his local boar-.l to report for physical examination, examina-tion, may enlist until Tecember 15 upon presentation to the recruiting officer of a certificate from his local board that he will not be needed to fill any deferred, de-ferred, percentage of the quota of tho board. This raling modifies previous instructions. instruc-tions. Accordingly voluntary enlistments enlist-ments of all registrants is prohibited from and after 12 o'clock noon, December Decem-ber 13. The annv recruiting station also received re-ceived a wire from V. T. Bates, adjutant general, in which it ie stated that the surgeon general of the army has reported report-ed that 5000 recruits are" needed for the medical department at once. It is desired that officers in charge of general gen-eral recruiting stations make special effort to secure men for this brauch of the service.
