Show RED OLDHAM OFF FOR AMERICAN LAKE Special to The Tribune. SAN FRANdfCO, Sept. 22. Red Old- ham was among those who left for American Amer-ican Lake today, and now the Seaia are dreadfully shy of pitchers. Lefty O'Doul. a kid who has been with Dee Moines this year, has been sent for, and Rudy Kalllo ought to be aloncr here pretty soon; but next week the Seals have to tackle the Angels down south, and it begins to look as though Hon Berry would have to do some of the pitching himself. Bill Bernhard thinks the White Sox will come out victors in the world's series. In commenting on the big battle. Bill said: "It's a toss-up, and you can take your pick. The team that wins the first game will win the series. Personally, I favor the White Sox because they came through In a classy league. It is true the Giants " won with ease in their league, but they ' did not encounter the same tough opposition opposi-tion the Sox did." Bernhard Is the only manager In the league complying with the four-busher rule. Bill has Byler, Schinkle, Gislason and Sheely, who come under the four- r busher provision. ' |
