Do you know what it means to a soldier at the end of a hard day's work to be without a smoke? You remember how often at home you were stranded, but think of your soldier friend at the front what a smoke would mean to him- Thousands of our boys are somewhere in France without their favorite smoke they are fighting for vou. The Salt "Lake Tribune's tobacco fund has just been started to supply our boys with their favorite smoke. Will you help make it a success? The plan has been endorsed by the government. govern-ment. Through the efforts of The Salt Lake Tribune arrangements have beeu made with the American Tobacco company com-pany to send packages of tobacco worth 45 cents for 25 cents. The packages to be sent to the soldiers sol-diers in France with the money contributed con-tributed to The Tribune tobacco fund make a very attractive gift. Each 25 cents contributed to the fund insures the receipt by a soldier in France of a package containing 45 cents worth of smoking tobacco, as follows: Two packages of Lucky Strike cigarettes, three packages of Bull Durham, one tin of Tuxedo tobacco, seven packages of cigarette papers aaid one stamped post card addressed ad-dressed to the person whose con tribution made the gift possible. The large package containing the tobacco to-bacco is printed in red, white and blue. On the front are the words: "A package pack-age of smokes from The Salt Lake Tribune Tri-bune tobacco fund. Salt Lake City, Utah. (Please acknowledge receipt on the card enclosed.)'1 On the other sade of the carton are the words: "To the recipient: This little lit-tle gift is sent to you with the best wishes of the donor, who will greatly appreciate acknowledgment of its sate arrival on the enclosed addressed postal card." The words ou the third side of the carton read: "This tobacco fund is maintained entirely by the voluntary contribution of those who desire to express ex-press their appreciation of the sacrifices sacri-fices made by the men who have gone to the front. You can help the fund by the message j'ou sond on the enclosed card." On the fourth side of the package are the words: "If you have the time, write us of your experiences. These letters will be of help in arousing more interest in the fund." The tobacco for the boys in France will be distributed through the Bed Cross. The American Tobacco company has arranged to duplicate any shipment that may meet with mishap on the ocean.
