Show GOODBRED MAKES A HIT IN BEAVERTOWN ' PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 22. Byron Houck pitched his second shut-out game of the week today when he let takland down without a tally and six hits, not a single base rnnnor'advanced 'beyond second and only two reached that station. Harry Krause, who was knocked out of the box early in the week, pitched for the Oaks and Harry did well, but his support v.a.s as poor as could be accorded any pitcher. Four errors and a passed ball allowing the Beavers to count their five runs. Rube Gardner was the only Oak who oould solve Houck 's spitto'r. Three hits in three times at bat were credited to Gardner. The Beavers killed two Oakland rallies with double plays. Two games are scheduled Sunday, but conditions are such ;hat both "games will be postponed, as the weather bureau bu-reau reports rain for Sundav. One of tomorrow's games, provided rain does not interfere, according to his personal announcement, will be pitched by Tiny Goodbred, successor to Hap Hogau, and George Kireher, as the league cut-up. Tinv invites the whole town out to see him pitch, just as he did Thursday, which prompted a grandstander to remark: ''Hey, Tiny, you invited me to bring all my friends out to see you pitch and I did and now 1 haven't anv friends." Manager Hovarrt said Pitcher East will join the Oakland club next week. |
